1: The new and uncrowded Curry Hammock State Park which features a 1/4 mile sand beach with new picnic pavillions, showers, and restrooms ocated 5 miles north of us.
2: The Dolphin Research Center with dolphin shows and educational tours (swim programs require reservations ahead of time) 12 miles north of us.
3: The 63 acre Crane Point Hammock tropical and rain forest Preserve, with nature trails and a museum of the Keys natural history 2 miles south.
5: The Bahia Honda State Park beaches 20 minutes south with picnic pavillions and showers and some great viewing locations.
6: The Key Deer (endangered species) National Wildlife Refuge 30 minutes south.
7: The southernmost city of Key West an hour's drive south, where Hemingway, Audubon, and Jimmy Buffet once hung out.
8: Windley Key Fossil Reef Quarry State Park 30 minutes north.
9: A small, recently new movie theater playing two first run movies, plus live theatrical performances dinner-theater style at the south end of town 2 miles away.
10: There are also paved pathways throughout town for walking, jogging, skating or biking - including the first 2 miles of the old seven mile bridge -- A great spot for sunsets!
11. The Turtle Hospital now offeres regularly scheduled staff guided public tours featuring live sea turtles, plus slide shows and exhibits.
